Underwater ice hockey

Underwater ice hockeyThe first ever World Cup in the new extreme sport of underwater ice hockey has been staged in the frozen White Sea lake in Austria.

Eight nations battled it out in the freezing water under a thick ice covering - without oxygen.

The no oxygen rule meant that players had to resurface frequently through special holes drilled in the ice so they could get air.

Finland won in the final beating Austria 7:4.
